Stock Market update -Feb 1st

Overall the market was down this week and for the month as well, with lots of ups and downs in between. GDP numbers were weak, as well as earnings from some companies, with some affected by the strong Dollar. Next week we'll probably see more of the same, with the market looking weak at this point. We seem to have been forming a top since December, with lower highs on each rally. Bonds continue to rally as well, not a good sign.

Earnings rallies included AAPL, AMZN, BA, BIIB, HAR
Earnings drops were seen in BABA, CAT, MSFT, PFE, PG, QCOM, YHOO

Financial troubles seem to be stirring up in Europe again, as Bonds dropped in Greece after their election.

Stock Market Update -Jan 18th

The market was down all week, then rallied on Friday. Bonds rallied for the week. Next week we get a slew of earnings reports so keep tuned in for the market reaction.

The ECB will make a big QE announcement on Thursday which could be a market mover as well. We saw big currency moves this week as the Swiss removed their currency peg -we could see more fallout from that too over the next week.  The market is closed on Monday for a holiday.

Stock Market Blog -Jan 11th

This was a rocky week with large down swings and up swings. Next week we could see more of the same as earnings reports start coming in. Until we see a better short-term trend pattern setting up, its anyone's guess as to where we are headed next.

Unemployment dropped to 5.6 percent. Meanwhile, Oil prices continue to drop, and Bond prices continue to rise...

Stock Market Blog -Jan 4th

We got a year end sell-off this week -maybe some profit taking... we could see the rally continue next week, and then take a direction based on earnings reports. I'm still looking for the NASDAQ to surpass the 2000 high in the near future.

The S&P500 closed the year with a gain of just over 11% while the NASDAQ was up just over 13%. The Small-cap Russell 2000 was only up around 4%. Oil was down almost 50% for the year. Bonds outperformed the S&P500!
