Stock Market update: August 2017

Stock Market update -Aug 27th

The market recovered a bit from the big Thursday drop, but is still in a short-term down trend. This week we get the GDP report, with the Jobs report closing out the month on Friday. We'll need to see a rally to get out of this downturn. Bonds continue to rise, along with Gold.

Sears to shutter another 28 locations, as same-store sales tumble 11.5%
Macy's to restructure merchandising unit, cut 100 jobs

Stock Market update -Aug 20th

The market was down this week as we got another big drop on Thursday, just like the prior week. We could be seeing a market running out of steam at this level, after the 9 month election rally. The US Dollar may be showing signs of maybe turning around from the 8 month drop too.

Bitcoin continued to rise.

Stock Market update -Aug 13th

We had a big down day on Thursday for the first time in a long time. The overal market was down about 1.5% for the week on North Korea tensions. Small-caps (IWM) continued to fall. Gold continued to rise. This could be the start of a bigger drop as we approach the end of the summer, and then go into Sep & Oct, notable times for market volatility. In this multi-year rally however, we've always recovered quickly from similar drops...

Macy's and JCP dropped again after reporting earnings. CMG and BBBY continue their downward trend.

Stock Market update -Aug 6th

The DOW hit new all time high records all week, as the Small Caps (IWM) went in the opposite direction. A good Jobs report on Friday helped to keep the market up too. Earnings for most of the high profile names are now over (DIS & NVDA this week). Lets see what Aug and Sep bring. We've had an extended run, so maybe we take a pause here after earnings... VIX is at multi-year lows.

AAPL & TSLA popped on earnings. YELP yelped! TEVA cratered!
SNAP and APRN continued to drop

The Dollar continued to drop, and Oil and Gold rallied.
