Stock Market update -May 31st

The market pulled back a bit this week as economic numbers continued to disappoint. We are still near all time highs however, and still in an up-trend. Bonds may be gaining some strength, while Oil is holding near $60. Biotechs are holding near their highs (IBB), and Semiconductors broke out to new highs (SMH). Worrying though is the Transportation index which has been trending down all year.

Stock Market update -May 24th

The market was mostly flat this week, continuing to hold near all time highs. Not sure what catalyst will drive it higher or lower next, we'll just have to wait and see. Bonds may be one of the factors -we could be at a support level on Bonds and see a bounce. If it falls further,we could see a quick rise in interest rates.

Implied Volatility has been very low for some time now, possibly indicating an upcoming correction.

Stock Market update -May 17th

The S&P500 closed at another all time high again this week, while the Russell 2000 continues to lag behind. Bonds continued to drop, but Gold was up and Oil held its ground. The Dollar continued its slide.

The S&P500 could break out higher from this level, dragging the other indices up with it. Only time will tell, but right now there is no bearish indicator on the S&P500 chart.

Stock Market Blog -Apr 26th

Nice week for the NASDAQ, finally clawing its way back to the year 2000 level. We also saw big moves in a number of stocks after reporting earnings (AMZN, DNKN, GOOGL, MSFT, SBUX, etc).

Next Monday we get AAPL earnings. If the S&P continues to rally, we could see a nice breakout to higher levels. Gold fell back below 1200 again, while Oil continued to climb. The Fed meeting on Wednesday could affect markets this week too.

Stock Market Blog -Apr 19th

We closed out this months Option expiration cycle on Friday with a big drop in the market -very unusual. Something to do with China and Greece supposedly. Regardless, the S&P500 has not been able surpass its recent highs in quite some time, and as I mentioned in previous posts, I think we are just forming a big rounded top. Earnings could be a catalyst for the downside in coming weeks.

Meanwhile Europe's woes continue. Oil prices continued to rise this week as the Dollar lost some ground.
