Stock Market Update -Jan1

Another quiet holiday week, although the market pulled back a bit. We could see some selling next week as investors take profits in the new tax year.  Gold and Gold Miners rallied a bit.

The market closed out the year with approximately 10% returns on the large-cap S&P500, and almost 20% for the Small-caps (IWM). Bonds and Gold dropped for the year, while Oil was up.

Leading sectors for the year were Energy, Financials, and Industrials. Lagging was Health Care

We are now heading to $20 Trillion in debt! See Debt Clock on the left... let's see if we get there before the new president takes office!



It's anyone's guess as to what 2017 will bring, but here is a chart that shows the past 5 years?
