Stock Market update -Mar 27th

The market took a breather this week after the recent huge rally. Next week we have the Fed on Tuesday, and the monthly Jobs report on Friday. I expect we'll rally or hold at these levels through the end of the quarter.

Stock Market update -Mar 20th

Stocks rose for a 5th week, bringing some indexes back to breakeven or better for the year. As I mentioned last week, this rally could continue into the end of this 1st quarter -then we get earnings. If previous rallies are any indication (last October looks identical), we could see the market roll over again.  You Are Here

The Dollar dropped, and Commodities rallied as a result.

Stock Market update -Mar 13th

The market rallied on Friday, taking out the high from the previous week, with the SPX closing over 2000. Oil continued to rise. Bonds dropped. Gold dropped on Friday.

Looks like this rally could continue a while longer into the end of the quarter, maybe up to around 2060 on the SPX.

Stock Market update -Mar 6th

The rally continued this week, blowing right past the 50MA, catching many bears by surprise! In my opinion though, the 'new all time high' list doesn't really show any of the true leaders, so we'll see how long it lasts. Options expiration in March could end up with the S&P 500 surprising everyone to the up-side, and with Bonds surprising to the down-side! No one knows, but being aware helps to position yourself...

Gold continued to rally, as did Oil. Bonds were down.

Stock Market update -Feb 28th

The rally continued this week, putting us now at a prior resistance level, so we'll have to see if it breaks through or turns back down.

We got a nice bounce in Gold equities, as well as some commodities. Natural Gas is flirting with the lows. Bonds dropped a bit. Some more earnings next week, and we have the Jobs report on Friday which could move markets...

Stock Market update -Feb 21st

We finally got a nice bounce in the market this week. Lets see if it will hold. The short-term chart shows us to be in a down-trend, so this may just be a temporary bounce. Crude Oil rallied, while Bonds dropped a bit.

Stock Market update -Feb 14th

Stocks dropped then regained some ground on Friday. Maybe we'll get some temporary relief from the selling next week. On Thursday the S&P 500 dropped for a third time to the Aug lows, followed by a big rally on Friday. This could produce a nice bounce once again from these lows, keeping in mind that we are still in an overall down-trend.

Markets are closed on Monday. It's also Options expiration week for February.

Stock Market update -Feb 7th

The market seemed to reverse course again this week, with some of the big tech names getting hit pretty hard. Weak employment numbers on Friday didn't help. Gold rallied strong this week, while Bonds were also up.

We could see the SPY reach down to the Jan/Aug lows again, though there doesn't seem to be much bad news out there. Maybe some Europe or Japan news? A bounce would be nice though...
