Stock Market update -May 7th

The market was mostly flat for the week... Apple reported falling iPhone unit sales, losing more market share in China... Facebook saw a big revenue increase, while TSLA reported a bigger loss. Regardless, none of these stocks gained or lost value after reporting! IBM dipped after Buffet reported dumping some of his shares. The VIX remains at multiyear lows.

Stock Market update -Apr 30th

We saw a big rally early in the week, reversing the short-term downtrend started in March. Meanwhile Bonds, Oil, Gold, and the Dollar were all down! GDP came in at a very weak .7%.

Next Friday we get the monthly Jobs report. Next week we also get earnings from AAPL, FB, and TSLA, along with a Fed meeting, and the usual 'world' issues -could be an interesting week. VIX is at multi-year lows...

The market continued to pull back this week from the early March highs, as Implied Volatility starts rising. Next week kicks off earnings season and could influence the market direction, along with current geopolitical events. If we don't bounce, we could see the S&P test the recent lows of just under 2300.

Stock Market update -Apr 9th

The market was down a bit for the week, maintaining the small downtrend that started on March 1st. The disappointing Jobs report did't help any. Bonds continued in a small uptrend, as did Oil. Some of the big banks kick off earnings next week.

For traders in the Futures market, the VIX Futures at this low level might present some interesting trading opportunities.

Stock Market update -Apr 2nd

This week marked the end of the month, and the end of the 1st Quarter, with the stock indexes all showing small gains for the year (the Nasdaq though was up almost 10%!). Let's see what the 2nd quarter will bring, with earnings right around the corner.

Currently the SPX is in a small downtrend, but that could change this week if it tries to catch up with the Nasdaq. Of course we could see more downside action too... personally, I don't think the selling is over yet.
